Bridgewater Bakehouse came to be after Patrick a qualified baker and Theresa O'Toole recognised a need for a bakery in the small town of Bridgewater on Loddon while carting water for their transport business. Over a glass of wine, they purchased the building now known as Bridgewater Bakehouse and with a young family in tow set about renovating the previous cellar door winery into a bakery. In January 2011, the Loddon river flooded the Bridgewater township and surrounding areas which caused an 11-month setback but finally on December 26, 2011 Bridgewater Bakehouse served its first customer.
Bridgewater Bakehouse is located a short 30 metre walk to the public conveniences and 100metres from the Loddon river which provides a beautiful backdrop on a warm summers day while enjoying lunch or even a coffee from the bakehouse.
Along with the bakehouse Bridgewater on Loddon hosts a caravan park with dump point, 24hr access Motel, Service station, Hotel, Post office, Art shop, Nursery, Motorbike shop and a Specialty goods store all connected by walking tracks along the Loddon river not to mention the award winning wineries, Laucke flour mill, Hay Australia and Scato Mushroom farm.
On the 8th February 2016 Bridgewater Bakehouse expanded its operations and went into partnership with Cameron Frank (formally of Huntly Hot Bake) and opened a second store in Bath Lane, Bendigo under the name of Bridgewater Bakehouse Bendigo.
In March 2022 the drive-through coffee shop called Bridgewater On-the-go opened, supplying our signature pie's and latte's all on the go.
Both stores strive to achieve great friendly and efficient customer service and great quality products whilst supporting local businesses in and around Bridgewater and Bendigo.
